Today on Accordions Can Smell Fear:

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Music so good it’s practically OBSCENE courtesy of Martin Green, accordionist for LAU. Last night I got a hold of the collaboration album between Martin and Eliza Carthy, the english fiddler. It is good. It is better than good. It’s so good it’ll strip the bark off of dogs and put socks on your feet just so it can blow them off again. You have no idea just how awesome it is. Just tune in today from 12-2pm EST.

Martin Green? Hell yes.

Richard Galliano on Accordions Can Smell Fear 9-11pm

Monday, August 4th, 2008

In this show’s ongoing search to find the greatest accordionists of all time, I have decided to dedicate this entire show to songs by Richard Galliano. If you are unaware who he is, you can read more about him here on his website or tune in to the show at 9pm EST on BIRN Channel 1 and educate your ears. The first hour will be the entire Passatori album, featuring I Solisti Dell’Orchestra, followed by songs from his Luz Negra and Solo albums.

For a quick look at the master, you can also watch some of the various videos of his music hosted on youtube before you tune in.

Accordions Can Smell Fear 9-11pm

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Tonight it’s a gypsy mix of new and past favorites. I’ve recently come across a new band, Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen. Their outlandish take on gypsy-flavored cabaret will have you entranced, amused, appalled or all three. For the rest of the night expect the likes of the Fishtank Ensemble, Fulgerica and the Mahala Gypsies, and Kal. Prepare yourself, because tonight the Accordions Can Smell Fear.

Bandoneons Can Smell Fear 9-11pm tonight!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

It’s a latin invasion on Accordions Can Smell Fear! That means a most excellent selection of music from groups like Los Palmeras, Degrade, Anibal Troilo, Grupo Cali and many more. And by the second half of the show you’ll be listening to more tangos than you can shake a stick at. Many thanks go out to Bruno Ramari from Argentina who sent me the music to make this show possible!
