Nearly all of Matt's attention is focused on music-be it performing on his principle instrument of the viola (or on one of eighteen others he plays) or composing new music. Matt is always looking for discoveries in music and analyzing what he comes across. Though steeped in a rich bluegrass background, and with a hefty amount of straight ahead jazz experience, he currently is most interested and focused in the new music scene, performing and composing minimalist, post-structuralist, and avant-garde pieces. Matt loves to comb through the pieces to see what is making them great or what elements attract or repulse people away from them. Matt enjoys discussing opinions on new music with others. The possible tunes on his playlist could be anyone's guess.
