The Low End

This show is not currently broadcasting.

Lowend If it makes the bungle jungle rumble - if the funk punks a swampus stank - if the tones walk through the valley of the shadow of C4- and if the vibrations are so deep it hertz, chances are you're digging The Low End.

Let Singaporean-born bassist Dave D'aranjo (aka DJ Darangatang) slide you down the neck of the most ridonkulous, bulbous bass jams out there.

You'll hear today's best players and yesterday's classic axe heroes. You'll hear 16th-note pockets, fat whole note grooves, warm acoustic butter, double slaps, slides, and more popped G-strings than you'll know what to do with.

All this goes DOWN every Thursday afternoon, 2pm to 4pm Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5) on the Berklee Internet Radio Network.
Or, tune in to the BIRN1 via the "College Radio" tab within your iTunes™ streaming radio library.

Turn up your subwoofer, because:
If you're feeling the groove,
chances are you're listening to

P.E.R. (Per Byhring) Live DJ Set / Bonnaroo Festival Retrospective!

Posted on 06/17/2009 by Dave D'aranjo

Hey all! Only two more episodes of "The Low End" left this season - and I promised I'd only msg you when something big is happening. Well, it's now that time:

BONNAROO FESTIVAL 2009 RETROSPECTIVE
P.E.R. (PER BYHRING, NORWAY) LIVE DJ SET
"The Low End": June 18th, 2009, 2pm - 4pm E.S.T.
only on the Berklee Internet Radio Network

After taking a break to travel down to Tennessee last week, we're fresh back from the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and *boy* do we have some great acts for you to check out! Join DJ Darangatang (Dave D'aranjo) from 2pm - 3pm E.S.T. for tunes & talk about this awesome, Woodstock-esque experience.

Then from 3pm - 4pm E.S.T. we have a full hour’s worth of bumpin’ tunes by P.E.R., a.k.a Per Byhring, who has flown to Boston all the way from Oslo, Norway to deliver the goods. Dig sixty minutes of bulbous musical mash-ups: cheeky 60’s lounge music, hard-hitting dubstep, and finishing it off with his own style of melodic and glitchy indie house. Some sick bassitudinous jams to be sure!

This week’s “Low End” is not to be missed. Tune in from 2pm - 4pm Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, June 18th. International Broadcast Schedule is below! And, as always, thanks for listening to the Berklee Internet Radio Network - the best college radio out there!

Best Regards,
DJ Darangatang

... however we'll be back on the 18th and 25th!

In the meantime check out this amazing musician:

Mark Goffeney is the bassist and vocalist of his rock band "Big Toe".
He also frequently busks with his acoustic guitar in the San Diego area.
His music and musicianship is really, really great.
Oh.... and he was born without arms.

Summer 2009 Show Schedule

Oh, it's On like a Prawn that Yawns at Dawn....

An unbelievable week here at Berklee with Final Exams and all sorts of associated craziness and the collective sighs of relief that come with the end of a semester. And while others will be staying on for the Summer term, I am hitting the road, as always, in search of the stankiest, skankiest bass jams out there.

The Low End will be taking a season break from July to September 2009. Thanks for your amazing support and great listenership! And never fear! There are still seven more exciting episodes of bangin' bass bulbousity in store!

I will be going to the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this year, again. Woohoo!
Look out for our special
Bonnaroo Restrospective Show on June 18th, 2009

That same day, expect a great, live-on-air performance by P.E.R. (Per Byhring, Norway)!
More info to come as that exciting show draws closer.

See ya'll later!

Why would Dave re-record bass for one of the funkiest Prince songs ever?! The nerve! What gall

Find out on today's *very special* episode of The Low End, in the 2nd part of a recurring segment we like to call "Bass Analysis" (ominous voice).

Also hear great tracks from Bendy Pastorius, Steve Smith, Dafnis Prieto, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Maceo Parker, Tower of Power, Salamander, and more.
