Sinatra & Company

Live on the air Sunday, 7pm

Young-191 Here, we celebrate Frank Sinatra, the man who redefined modern singing and recording the great American songbook more thoroughly than anyone else. However, "Sinatra and Company" is not just a trip down memory lane. The constant addition of new artists and new releases keeps it fresh with the latest in new vocals, big band, small group jazz, bop, broadway, blues and even hip-hop. Sinatra was constantly on the hunt for "more". Within the industry he was known as "Mr. More". This show will always look for more.

Celebrating The Oscars! (Part Three) TONIGHT!

Posted on 03/07/2010 by Shawn Conway
The Academy Awards quickly became a magical part of every year, drawing an audience full of the world's most beloved (and maybe now despised) actors, directors, screenwriters, cinematographers; the worker ants of Hollywood. Many of these faces are internationally renown, and they are gathered at one special venue once ...a year, looking back on another year in the world of commercial film.

Over the years, the presence of the "Best Song" category as diminished severely. The culture of the movie just doesn't seem to have much room for a memorable and original tune. The Broadway Musical format of earlier twentieth century films were all about the original songs. Often performed by actors, these songs grew into unforgettable American standards.

Tonight, folks, we take a look at it all. Songs from over 80 decades shall fill the artificial radio waves tonight at 7pm EST, 4pm. PST!

The Works Of Bill Evans

Posted on 01/31/2010 by Shawn Conway
Bill Evans, one of the most influential and tragic figures of the post-bop jazz piano, was known for his highly nuanced touch, the clarity of the feeling content of his music and his reform of the chord voicing system pianists used.

Yet Bill Evans was a person who was painfully self-effacing, especially in the beginning of his career. Tall and handsome, literate and highly articulate about his art, he had a "confidence problem" as he called it, while at the same time devoted himself fanatically to the minute details of his music.

Mr. Evans was an enormous contribution to the world of Jazz piano. We will take a look at some of his great recordings on Sinatra & Company tonight, at 7pm ET, 4pm PT.

S&C Returns!

Posted on 01/24/2010 by Shawn Conway
Hello everyone! It's time we began our third semester of Sinatra & Company! Just to settle into the groove once again, I'll be playing a variety of songs, including many from cd's I got for Christmas! It should be a very enjoyable show with a different set of music! We'll be hearing from N.E.R.D's Album, "Seeing Sounds" as well as Esperanza Spalding, Roy Hargrove with his new Album "Emergence", even some of the electronic group, "JUSTICE", and of course, Mr. Sinatra and friends. Don't miss it at 7pm ET, 4pm PT.

Movie magic is alot more difficult today than it was in the past. Movie's back then had more soul and because it was so far back in the past, people were still finding new ways of making film more invovative.
