Beijing-born and Shanghai-raised, Aizhou grew up in a richly multicultural environment, impacting her outlook and the music she produces. She started classical training in piano at 5, but her musical journey truly began when she discovered Western punk and pop rock in her teens. Inspired by these genres and her traditional Chinese music roots, Aizhou started writing her own songs and taught herself to play guitar. At 17, she founded a rock band and went on to represent her high school in local showcases and events.

House of Waters is a three-piece band based in Brooklyn. With Max ZT on hammered dulcimer, Moto Fukushima on six-string bass, and Berklee grad Ignacio Rivas Bixio on percussion, they combine influences from all over the world to make beautiful, complex, and genuine compositions. House of Waters has been described as “a rare and beautiful gem,” while their performances are said to be “a sight to behold.” Their most recent record, House of Waters, is on Snarky Puppy’s label GroundUp Music and rose to #2 on the iTunes World Music Charts.
