April 6 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT
Tune in to birnCORE on Monday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m. for a live broadcast from the Red Room @ Cafe 939 featuring the Aditya Prakash Ensemble.
Aditya Prakash is an award-winning, American-born Indian Classical Vocalist best known for his powerful and emotive voice. From performing with Pandit Ravi Shankar at the age of 16 to starting his own fusion collective, Prakash is one of the foremost young virtuosos of Carnatic music, the traditional classical style of South India.
A Los Angeles Native, Prakash began his intensive musical studies as a child in a family richly immersed in South Indian arts and culture. While pursuing his ethnomusicology degree at UCLA, Aditya studied composition under award-winning jazz musician, Tamir Hendlemen, and Hindustani vocal under Ustaad Shujaat Khan. In 2010, Prakash founded the Aditya Prakash Ensemble, whose unique collaboration took root during the members’ time studying ethnomusicology. The group of imaginative young musicians, while bridging seemingly disparate styles of music, created a boldly innovative and dynamic mix of Indian classical ragas, chants, and rhythms with the modern sounds of brass band arrangement, jazz harmony, and hip-hop infused beats.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. EDT and you can stream it here.
