AHI and Coral Moons play Cafe 939
November 13 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST
True to his craft and his story, AHI (pronounced “eye”) writes soulful music with the bareness akin to folk songwriters like Tracy Chapman and Ray LaMontagne, told from a personal and familiar perspective. “When it comes to songwriting, my stuff has to be honest, and I have to feel like the song I sing can be spoken to someone or said to someone in a conversation,” AHI says. His most recent LP In Our Time particularly expresses the authenticity in which he embodies artistically, while uniquely blending styles like folk, indie soul, and rock. A closer look into the songwriter’s life and struggles as an individual, the album’s most heartbreaking songs still maintain a sense of yearning hope, creating a warmth that is irresistible to listen to.
AHI has toured over 100,000 miles independently, and recorded acoustic sessions across Europe in between. Most notably, a simple cover he filmed in a London alleyway of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” caught the attention of the Bob Marley family, as the video was featured on Marley’s official website and has been reaching more views ever since.
Coral Moons, a retro-rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, has its roots in blues and soul. The band recently released its debut EP, Quarter Life Crisis. WGBH, Boston’s local NPR station, featured Coral Moons in an article, describing its debut single “Fall in Love” as “a nostalgic retro-rock song rooted in soul with a catchy hook.”
