Raul Midon and Lionel Loueke live from The Shalin Liu Performance Center
March 1 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm EST
Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Raul Midon has been described by the New York Times as a “one-man band who turns a guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus”. Midon was blind since birth, and engineered his 2017 debut album using special computer software for the blind. Having collaborated with legendary musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Jason Mraz, Queen Latifah and Snoop Dogg, Midon has made a name for himself as an acclaimed songwriter across many genres.
Lionel Loueke is a guitarist and vocalist deeply influenced by African roots music and American jazz. Loueke combines harmonic complexity, soaring melody, a deep knowledge of African folk forms, and and extended guitar techniques to create a warm and evocative sound of his own. A Blue Note recording artist and member of Herbie Hancock’s band for a decade, Loueke has recorded and toured with Terence Blanchard, Angelique Kidjo and Luciana Souza among others. Praised by iconic songwriters Paul Simon and Sting, many look up to Lionel Loueke as one of the most original and inspiring musicians of the industry.
The show starts at 5:00 p.m. EST and you can stream it here.
